Laboratory

Laboratory dignostics is often a key point in our examination and thanks to that, we can find the problem and get definitive diagnosis.

Urinalysis  - is the first screening test we make, when client come to our clinic with his/her pet and main sign of the disease is excessive drinking and urinating, incontinence, blood in urine or difficult urination associated with straining

Hematology – complete blood count is very importanat in diagnostics of infectious, immune mediated, neoplastic and internal diseases. We use it before every surgery and for monitoring of the treatment efficacy.

Biochemistry profile – it´s a basic evaluation of organ function, if the animal has nonspecific signs of the disease (vomiting, anorexia, weight loss), it helps to direct us on specific organ system or another examination. Its value is irreplaceable for monitoring of adverse effects of oral remedies, especially in longterm therapy. We use it before surgery for choosing of the safe anesthesia.

Serology

Cats – we offer serologic test for feline leukemia virus, feline immunodeficiency antibody and heartworm antibody. It´s an in house snap test, that tells us in 10 minutes, if the cat is healthy or not. We make this test before every vaccination against feline leukemia or if severly ill cat has nonspecific signs like fever, anorexia, enlarged lymph nodes.

Dogs – we recommend you one time a year to make a preventive test to exclude diseases, that are transmitted by ticks (borreliosis, ehlichiosis, anaplasmosis and heartworm disease. The signs of these diseases are very nonspecific (limping, subfebrilia, anorexia, lower activity). Now we can make one very quick test at our clinic and you know,if the dog has antibodies or not.

Cytology  – it means study of cells. It´s a very important diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. We use impression smears, swab (eg. vaginal smears), fine needle aspiration biopsy (masses, lymph nodes, internal organs) and scraping. After the sample collection we make microscopy examination. This method is reliable, noninvasive and not expensive

Dermatology – skin scrapes, trichoscopy, impression smear etc. (find more in dermatology chapter)
